Westport Family Counseling

Carolyn Yates, LMFT

For me, it is most important to create a safe, nonjudgmental space for my clients to explore their behaviors, feelings, and beliefs. It is a collaborative process. I work with each client to find solutions that work for them.  We focus on the way they interact with the world, and what they can control in their life. I am dedicated to empowering my clients by helping them gain clarity. It is a privilege to watch them grow.

Experience:  As a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist, Carolyn Yates, has a wide range of clinical experiences in both inpatient and outpatient settings working with children and adults, alike. She uses a multi-modality approach to working with individuals, families and couples, and treats mood disorders, such as anxiety and depression, as well as behavioral and social difficulties. Ms Yates also works with clients who are going through life transitions, such as divorce, and loss. In addition, she is also a Certified EMDR therapist.  Ms Yates specializes in reproductive and perinatal mental health, supporting women before, during and after pregnancy, and pregnancy loss. Her focus is on helping women navigate the transition to motherhood by finding balance and building confidence in her new identity. Ms Yates’ personal style draws upon the warmth and compassion that is inherent in creating the type of safety that is necessary to promote lasting, positive change.
